Avoid verification and payment mistakes
Prevent name mismatches, unreadable documents, country conflicts, ignored verification requests, and unnecessary payment intermediaries. If Etsy limits the account, follow the official reason and remedy.
Common preventable mistakes
- Name mismatch: Seller, identity document, bank owner, and business records do not align.
- Poor document upload: The image is cropped, expired, blurred, or missing requested information.
- Country inconsistency: The shop country and payment details do not meet Etsy's rules.
- Following an outdated tutorial: The seller opens or links a payment intermediary that Etsy does not require for that country.
- Unusual access or transaction behavior: Sudden changes can trigger legitimate safety review.
- Ignoring a verification request: The request remains unresolved until a deadline passes.
Do not try to bypass verification with false information, a borrowed account, or a location that does not reflect the real business.
If the account is suspended or limited
Read the notification in Shop Manager and the associated email. Resolve the stated issue through official Etsy channels, submit the requested material, and keep a record of what was provided.
